Endometriosis is the presence of the endometrial like tissue outside the uterus, and occasionally in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, lungs and nerves which can result into chronic and inflammatory reaction. This can cause pain and discomfort during menstruation, vaginal deep penetration with sex, gynecological examinations, inserting tampons and can also result into infertility.
However Physical Therapy cannot decrease the number of endometriosis adhesions, but can help with alleviating some of the resultant pain. Endometriosis Treatment can include - Manual therapy to the perineal and or pelvic region - Therapeutic exercises to either strengthen or loosen muscles to improve flexibility - Biofeedback internally or externally - Electrical Stimulation internally or externally - Graded introduction to dilators to improve vaginal penetration - Relaxation training
